I don't feel pressure. I don't give a toss about it. I spent the     afternoon of Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Berlin sleeping and playing   the PlayStation. In the evening, I went out and won the World     Cup - Andrea Pirlo

Subject

KINETIC & REACTOR DESIGN REFLECTION

As a chemical engineer student, I think KRD is one of the interesting subjects to learn. So far, I have understand the importances of designing a reactor and types of reactor required to complete a specific reaction. A special thanks to Dr Suzana for assisting me to fully understand the lecture material.  Not to forget Dr Tazli for coming up with this fun idea of building a board game to understand KRD better.

For the second part of the semester, Dr Tazli took over the class. His new approach of teaching is very interesting. His method of deliviring lectures through videos is a very novel approach to do in UTP or perhaps in Malaysia. This method us student to learn effectively as we can always refer back to the videos if we have some confusion.

Thank you Dr Suzana and Dr Tazli

CONTROL PROCESS DYNAMICS INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL REFLECTION

As far as CPDIC is concern,  this subject is the hardest subject I have ever encountered. This is because there are many derivation of equation for different control process situation. This subject requires time and patience to grasp the concept. However, I am grateful to have Dr Abbas as my lecturer because he is very approachable and helps the students to understand his lecture.

Dr Haslinda took over the responsibilty of delivering lectures for the 2nd term of the semester. Somehow, I would say that now CPDIC is starting to make sense to me. It all about making system efficient and make it stable. Sound simply but it is not that simple. The assignments she provided consists of real life application question which help me to see how different type of stability problem may occur in the plant and how to tackle it. The simulation lab also help me to understand Mathlab better and  the methods of running simulation with it. I think it be very useful for me during my future working time.

Thank you Dr Abbas and Dr Haslina

1st Project

REFLECTION

I was utterly shocked when I first heard about this project. This is because I never had the opportunity to get involve with a project of such nature before.  I really admire actions taken by the lecturers to help students to understand subject material in a fun way. It had been a great experience for me while doing this project.

Basically our board game is an evolution from the ancient board games called snake & ladder. Many customization had been done to ensure this board game satisfy the objective of this project. In this board games, we have 3 categories which are KRD, PSLP and CPDIC. In each of the categories, it further break down to topics that we have learnt till week 5 with three level of hardness(Easy,Medium and Hard).

All I can say is once a person plays this game, he will have basic understanding on KRD,CPDIC and PSLP subject.

CONTRIBUTIONS

First and foremost, I would like convey my deepest gratitude to all my teammates for their contribution on this project. Without them, I could not possibly  imagine being a part of this awesome project. Everyone help ensure the working environment is condusive to allow creative thinking to take place. As for my contributions, I was assigned of following task

  • Coming up with questions needed to play this game.

  • Contribute  ideas on the board game concept.

  • Finding loopholes or weakness in board game rules.

2nd Project

REFLECTION

During this 2nd project, I feel that this project help me to grasp the understanding of all the knowledge I have learnt so far during this semester. The vermicompost alternatives we have selected for this project is a novel approach to solve the waste management issue. As we were proceeding with project, I saw how all three subject (KRD, PSLP & CPDIC) are interconnected to each other. It given me a glimpse of what real working situation will look like whereby a chemical engineer will be given a problem to solve and how the knowledge we have consumed so far during the degree studies will help us to solve the problem.

CONTRIBUTIONS

Once again I would like to take this oppurtunity to convey my joy of working with my teammates. "You guys are the best".

Basically my task for this time are as following

  • Provide literature review on one of the alternative - Animal Feed.

  • Create prezi for the summary of Kinetic & Reactor Design subject.

  • Proposing control types for CPDIC.

  • Discussion of selected control types.
